THE MIRACLE CURE STORY It all started in November 2001, when Ben approached Mark with the offer of him playing guitar in his new group. Along with the only other people who really played instruments, ( Joe Rybicki on bass, Ashley Bamforth on drums, and Ben singing ) they decided to jam together. Mark asked Ben to give him a few lyrics on paper, but obviously he decided to copy some other bands. Mark realised this after listening to the same CD and being able to sing along. Anyway, with the lyrics written he wrote a simple chord sequence, came up with a vocal melody, and they took it from there. However, Ben and Mark should have known that it wasnt going to work from the start, as Mark and ben have both had fights with Joe before in the past, and Ashley was just a friend of Bens who couldnt actually play the drums ( Mark had to teach him ) so therefore Ben and Mark ditched Joe and Ash and decided to go on as a three piece with Mark singing and find a drummer. They then settled on Oliver Seton, who lives next door to Ben. Mark and Ben went around to his house, and Mark started playing ' Every You Every Me ' . Everything fell into place, even if it was only jamming, and that same song went on to become one of the bands main songs, of which they opened with at the Old Cock ( see gigs ). They practiced after school for a while, and then they found they had a few covers they could play reasonably well. At the same time Mark was writing material, and when introduced to the band, gelled to each members musical backgrounds and preferences. Then, late in November, Miracle Cure were asked to take part in a Battle of the Bands at Crossley Heath school along with Buen Chico, Sapient and wrongleft. They played well considering it was their first gig, and they placed 3rd ( obviously to much outrage and controversy ). From that day Miracle Cure decided to concentrate on bettering themselves exstensively, and then after months of practicing, they entered a regional battle of the bands. With nine bands playing including Miracle Cure, the standard was high, and the average age group were college bands ( Miracle Cure were the youngest band to play ). They gave their best, and the hours of practicing had paid off. Although they didnt win, they placed 4th and this attracted interest from Anthony Hollingsworth. With the help of Anthony, the band decided to play gigs. They settled on the Old Cock , Halifax, and he brought the P.A system down. After playing an amazing set, they were asked back to play at a Carlsboro roadshow. Sponsorship might have resulted if Miracle Cure had been old enough! Since then (almost a year ago) Miracle Cure have become even better and are gigging regularly (see gigs) May 2005 - Miracle Cure part ways with bassist Ben after disputes over other commitments and musical differences. The search continues for a bassist that can fit all the requirements needed. June 2005 - Local bassist Tom Patterson joins the band, his adaptability and experience will come very much in handy. |
